IN their attempts to achieve great feats, Earth humans destroyed their world. It was the year 7057. Illness raged throughout the population. The worst of all diseases afflicted only males. They lost their ability to dream in their sleep, and with dreamless sleeps came a life without light. Sadly, without this light, the males lost their ability to dream entirely. They never dreamt awake or asleep again. They became known as the Ignas of Earth’s society. The Earth’s females were not afflicted with dreamless sleep, but they were also not whole nor healthy. Yet, from the females’ sleep, a new life force was born. This new life force was the Vitalem. The females did not and could not control the Vitalem. It was born of them, and it was free to maintain life. It was the only life force that gave the Ignas the breath of life. Without the Vitalem, Earth males would have died. However, it didn’t protect the Earth males from ailments. Without the ability to dream, the Ignas suffered from memory loss, disease, and brain damage. They began to see themselves as powerless and ineffective in the world. Their worst fears were becoming true. Many went mad. They killed men, women and children in the millions and in unimaginable ways, thereby putting the survival of humans even more at risk. The Ignas loathed being at the mercy of the Vitalem for their survival. They wanted to be autonomous from all females. They wanted to dream again in their sleep and, most of all, they wanted to kill the Vitalem and breathe their own life force. Despite the atrocities, the Ignas inflicted on the whole of Earth’s societies, many continued to maintain the belief that males were dominant over females. In their weak and dying state, they continued to behave as such. There madness fuelled an already cruel and highly patriarchal, misogynistic, and rigid culture on Earth. They refused to believe that the Vitalem kept them alive. Their insanity ran amok. They killed females by the thousands in the hope that it would free them from the female life force. They stopped at nothing in their fight to regain their autonomy from females. In the history of Earth’s world, this level of cruelty had never been seen before. The only place where females could take solace from a world that stripped them of all their rights was in the sleeping dream. It was also the only place that showed them how to save Earth’s humans from extinction.
