BOSSES CATEGORIZED Read through each category and reflect on the boss you are dealing with, have dealt with, or the one you would like to be known as. A boss does not necessarily fit into just one category. Some categories by nature of the description automatically will involve other categories or will eventually lead into other categories. For example, the “Green Boss” will develop into another category over time. A category does not classify a boss for life. It is hoped that bosses will evolve and are trying to develop their skills, thus improving as time goes on. There are many factors that affect how a boss acts and what category they may fit into. This particular book will not be discussing why a boss acts in the manner that they do on a daily basis, or how they got to where they are but instead this text references each category to give some insight on how to negotiate your boss. Or perhaps, it may give one insight into options should you choose the path of becoming a boss. The True Leader – This is a boss that everyone dreams of having. This person is a great leader. You feel good when you are around him/her. You want to work for him/her and you are motivated to do the best you can. The Egotistical Boss – This is the Boss that wants to get all the attention and all the credit. Often this boss will say what he/she believes people want to hear and more than likely this person’s action may contradict what they say. The Power Boss – This is a boss that uses his/her title to force and bully employees to comply. Fear is the ultimate tool for this boss.

About the Author
James Rose is an educational professional. A graduate of SUNY College at Cortland where he studied Physical Education and Columbia University, Teachers College where he furthered his knowledge about educational administration. Mr. Rose is a respected professional, teacher, coach, author, leader, administrator, presenter, consultant and expert witness. He has worked for over 50 bosses in his 35 plus years as a professional. He has also worked for many other bosses during summers and holding jobs during his younger years. He has learned both positive and negative attributes of leadership along the way which has molded his own administrative style. He has supervised thousands of employees over the years, and has held many other leaderships positions to further the profession of education. Jim has a family of four with two sons and has been an active volunteer emergency medical technician and firefighter for over 40 years. His lifelong mission is to help others. It is within that mission that he hopes that this book can assist a worker who works very hard each and every day, but who struggles with a particular boss, or one who is looking to get further insight into understanding the people within a workplace and/or just interested in gaining insight to the type of boss he/she may want to become.
