It Takes Time (As Time Moves On) Building up a house takes more than two hands Two hands can break a piece of wood in two before it's nailed Hardships are the little periods of strife that sink a captain's boat If only you stay in charge the weight of gold could float You may have found the missing ingredient What good comes from flavor that overcooks in a boiling pot I think about days spent wondering if our love was meant to be Something more than zestful hopes Now that you're gone, I feel cheated of moments stamped into the scrolls of my mind Those scrolls were written for my own restrained laws A sacred tongue I couldn't help but speak Forced into prolonged battles of beating, thumping hearts Faced with the question where do I start in this letter full of doubts Faced with impurities and filled with imperfections to boot Removal of scars that are set so deep internally with cuts shown by external wrath Pleasure was written off by a need for structure One aspect of living under a dictator I cannot seem to find I fill all my baskets to the brim with eggs Eggs I color adding bright beams of light Eggs, I crack to break a yoke that runs all over the ground I could continue to design them anyway I please Rather than wasting them I should perhaps use them to eat Inspire a flame that ignites a bonfire Oh, but liar, liar You broke down branches to kindling Left with nothing but despair I do not envy Desperate to leave an island man created Only God knows that a young bird learns to fly his own way He falls on his head, examines his space He moves forward with such momentum forgetting it's not a race Learning lessons, I'd be foolish to crumble into a ball Blades of grass brush on my feet Those blades of glory refuse to retreat Grow fertile, to them any attempt is futile Kept a promise not to indulge in lust The hardest part of a plan is lust Creepy windows of the eyes are the dark tunnels to inner feelings you must avoid Confidence replaced by arrogance; a blink of an eyelid so absurd I'm confounded by my troubles that linger ever more Crack of a windshield breaks my whole outlook on keeping a sound reputation, to decibels demise Sound the alarm, as it flashes, I begin to panic I turn to He who created this sense of moral compass Directions turn me all the way around till' I collapse Here I am back to the station of the doom Stop at nothing to receive a seat on the bench waiting for this train of peril I've rearranged my belongings to fit me into a box Put on a suit of armor bestowed by prized knights I charged ahead with a sharper sword My sheath is a safety net for holding in the pain Strike gold at the worst opportunity possible Forces I reckon will remain unstoppable Nerves tingle then consume the spinal cord Dark matter during days of haunted weather Will I overcome the urge to belong to you The environment sends the body into shocking revelations Whether or not it's real it takes time to weather the storm Unsaid words are the gems I tie to a string like puppets Shove wooly socks into his blathering hole A belligerent who speaks of the unknown You play around idly with those hands of yours I love to fiddle to drop this bag of scorn Down he goes telling fairy tales as outlandish as pride I took care of my swamp; watched an ogre's love abide Even calloused souls soften like the soothing tides Shapes are congruent; Fail to see the lines straight Numbers are concrete; Can't seem to count on me Words are uncanny; Give me the definition I lack insight on When I see the lines count on me to define an unblurry vision Of course, it takes time as time moves on
