About the Book

Snippets in Surgery is a useful handbook for house officers and junior surgical trainees. There are two volumes. Volume 1 deals with important aspects of acute and essential surgery and Volume 2 with fundamental management of common malignancies. Volume 1 discusses everyday problems that a trainee will encounter whilst working in surgery. It is a concise compilation and succinct arrangement of current knowledge and significant management principles. The topics are discussed as a consultant would, in a ward round. The book is supported by relevant illustrations that enhance clarity and understanding. Key information, historical background and publications are lucidly emphasised. The book is laid out in an easy-to-read format and will serve as a quick guide to managing surgical patients who are admitted acutely. It will also assist as a valuable revision guide for exams and give practical tips and ideas to the trainee for management and future growth. Volume 1 also has MCQs based on applied clinical cases that will help greatly with self-assessment and consolidate learning.

About the Author

Srinivasan Ravi, MS FRCS Ed, FRCS Eng., is a Consultant General Surgeon with over forty years of experience. He trained in India and then in the UK where he has been working since 1980. He is actively involved in teaching and training junior doctors and has been teaching on educational programmes of the Royal College of Surgeons of England since 1997. He was the Postgraduate tutor (Hospital Dean) for the Blackpool Teaching Hospital and the chair for the Lancashire and Cumbria network for colorectal cancer. Ravi served as a Basic surgical skills and Intermediate skills tutor as well as STEP course moderator with the Royal College of Surgeons of England for many years. He has been a tutor and more recently Director for the CCrISP course and is a member of the court of examiners of the Royal College.
