I feel the snow crunch below my toes. My boots are nearly frozen all the way through. It’s so damned cold I can’t feel my nose. It’s 20 below with the thermometer holding true. Even the sage is huddled up close. Branches droop, draped in snow. The wind is providing a chill in a heavy dose. The sun ain’t helping any with it hanging so low. I’d like to be going in. But my horses need me right now so I won’t quite yet. Being as cold out here as it’s ever been. There’s ice to break and their feed to get.

About the Book
Best explained as short stories in rhyming form. A collection of 51 works that were written to be easy to read with the intent of capturing the reader’s attention with widely diverse themes ranging from horse care (20 Below), spiritual (Silent Prayer), to the simple pleasure of a glass of wine with the optimistic view of what tomorrow may bring (Glass of Wine). All describe life from the perspective of an individual living out on the range on a small horse ranch. Some works are written in a straightforward manner in their purpose and ease in understanding the author’s intent. Others ask the readers to peel back a layer on what they are reading, to ascertain the deeper meaning behind the words used in the work, to “ponder” what is really being said, and to arrive at that all important “I get it” moment.
About the Author
Yep, you can go home again. After years of military service stationed overseas and in several different states, the author always knew he’d return home to rural, northern Nevada. His small, 20 acre horse ranch with horses, dogs and other animals keeps him more than busy and in plenty enough trouble. His animals require constant attention and the place he shares with his wife needs continual maintenance and work to keep the place running. Buildin’, Mendin’, and Feedin’ are daily tasks and chores. He writes during what he defines as “easy” times; only when things are done, the sun is down, and when the animals have all received the care they need. He writes about his everyday experiences; what he sees, what and how he does things, the privilege of living where he does, and especially, the close relationship he enjoys with his animals and environment.
