The Old Man’s smile faded as he leaned in real close, looking them both straight in the eyes. “You want to know the real difference between you and me?” They nodded “yes” together, unable to speak, as the Old Man’s gaze went deeper into their souls. “The difference between you and me is this; I know who I Am, and you’re only beginning to remember who you are.” He leaned back, allowing it to sink in. Paul was still having a hard time believing this was happening, but Peter was becoming more comfortable with every word. “We’re a part of you.” “That’s right Peter!” “You’re the big part,” Paul came back with, trying to clear away the cobwebs in his mind. “I love that Paul – I Am the big part! The head fisherman! Welcome to my stringer!” The boys basked in Love’s embrace, feeling the warmth and happiness of being connected with the Truth. It felt comforting, it felt soothing, it felt inviting, and they reveled in it. The Old Man looked upon them, and saw that it was good. “Gentlemen,” the Old Man said, finally breaking the silence of the embrace, “if I can leave you with one message to remember me by, it is this: I Am Spirit – and so are you! I Am Truth, and your spirit is a part of My Truth. Truth is not a concept of ideas about what is right or what is wrong. Rather, Truth is Spirit – It is alive and living within all of creation.” He went on. “Life is an awakening; it’s a grand journey in rediscovering who you really are, and whom you are a part of. This is the real journey in life. Keep searching – keep seeking until you find, for there is nothing hidden that won’t be revealed. Knock, and the door will be opened. There you will find me, waiting with open arms to welcome you home. The further you walk in your faith, the more you’ll come to understand that I Am both the origin and destination of your journey. And there is only one way back to Me.” “Love?” “Yes Peter. The only way back to a Spirit of Love is through the Truth who is Love. Love is how we live and speak the Truth. The more you love Me, and the more you love your neighbor, the more the Truth works through you, strengthening the bond between us all.”

About the Book
Paul was walking in darkness ever since the death of his mother. He tried escaping the pain by quitting school and running away, leaning heavily on drugs and alcohol. Years later, Paul returns for the funeral of his good friend Peter. He finds himself sitting in his bedroom after the service, looking at his fishing poles and reminiscing about the day he and Peter had met him - the Old Man by the river. He falls asleep, trying to recall the ancient wisdom the Old Man had passed onto him and Peter. Paul awakes in darkness and heads out to go fishing, hoping to recapture some of the magic of the river. He meets Bill, the owner of his favorite bait shop, already fishing in his favorite hole. Little does either of them know the plans that have been made to help them see the Light.
About the Author
This is the second book Tom Martin has written about the Spirit we are all a part of. Tom is a retired Captain from a major airline. He continues to passionately seek the Truth, trying to understand Its infinite wisdom, and he loves to share what he has discovered along the way. Tom and his high school sweetheart, love their life on a lake in Minnesota, sharing it with family, good friends, and nature itself.
