To Sacrifice my Children As the weed penetrates through the thicket of tangled undergrowth, she finally emerges, only to meet the gruelling rage of a blackened storm. But I have strengthened my stem and stand resilient before the oncoming screams of a howling wind. I have become 'She Lion'. I bear my claws and clash my teeth, snarling at the menacing winds that have given birth to the horrific creature that now rages before me. Incomprehensible, demented beast that it is, dribbling spittle, flailing its arms about, screaming nonsensical words, stamping and thundering as a herd of Rhino's would, ready to charge. 'She Lion', where did she rise from? She is fearless. She stands before the beast in all its fury. She ushers her cubs to the safety of their cave, yet she can not silence their ears to the torments this ravished beast implodes upon us. Exhausted through self pitying denials the beast finally slumbers. I kiss my children, They whisper the quest of truth, one that repeats itself for over a decade, one that I have not the strength to satisfy their need with. "Why do you let him drink?' They answer their own quest but I am too weak willed to listen, or perhaps too afraid to heed. "Just say no." They give me choice and look longingly into my eyes. "Why don't we leave? It will be much better." Haunted Face That face did haunt me so, A masked grimace of a friendless foe, It rebuked my status of a stable mind, Spirialling beneath memories that spoke unkind. A tortured cry did pass my lips, Despair and anguish devoured my bliss, Oh sobbing child unleashed to wail, Trembling, chruning, distraught and pale. Rambling notions, a quickening of throughts, Desperate for balance and solace of sorts, Two steps forward, one hundred returned, Exhausted emotion, which path do I turn? --- So many of us become encased in our own earthly desires that perhaps we have forgotten what existence truly holds for us. Perhaps it is not until a catastrophic event occurs, rupturing our pathway and awakening us from our dream like state, that we become aware of our humbling existence and succumb to the ramblings of emotional turmoil. The emotional onslaught of our heart provides many experiences; the harshest of all is the overwhelming feeling of pain. This powerful emotion embodies itself around love, anguish, torment, joy, passion, desire, and hope. They are all expressed through our heart and soul. “How can one body express so much life?” You may well ask, but the answer remains “and yet it does.” One emotion rampaging into the next. Be aware that just one experience of existence has the ability to cause such climatic changes, that it can establish itself as the building blocks of our life, forever flowing as the river flows, channelling our new paths, finding new visions, and succumbing to, or overriding the debris that lies before us – who we are, who we have become, why we have become this way. Dreams of a child transformed into reality, or tarnished by lost opportunities, misguided judgements, and untouched longing. Courage, confidence, regret – three dimensions of our lives all entwined, guiding our destiny. Come. Come with me. Take my hand, for together we shall discover the truth; I am a survivor!
