I should have seen it coming, we were playing on the front lawn, Too close to the road, “Watch for cars!” I did warn, The car was coming up the road, your Daddy he gave chase, You thought he was playing, you thought it was a race. The driver didn’t see you, out in front you ran, The screech of tyres I heard next, but what happened then? Daddy held you in his arms, I was frozen to the spot, You were limp and silent, my stomach in a knot. The ambulance arrived from nowhere, they told us it looked grim, They rushed you to hospital, this race you wouldn’t win. You held on for a little while, a battle you must have fought, Although you were slipping fast, we couldn’t stand the thought. Your coffin was so tiny, it seemed so unfair, Never again will we see you, or even stroke your hair. Your Daddy and I miss you, we talk to you each day, And every night before bed, a little prayer we say.

About the Author
I have lived and breathed drama throughout my entire life. I have the ability to empathise with others and to feel their pain, sorrow or happiness. My poems are simple and easy to read. They flow like a short story and engage the reader to a level of being able to relate to the situation or feeling of the character. Majority of my work contains raw emotions based around real experiences. Some of my work is so emotionally charged you can almost see the where the tears would have been falling on the pages as I wrote. My family and friends have regarded my work as a healing experience of the soul. It can be uplifting to be able to understand a situation on a deeper level. My life with writing began as I found it hard to express verbally what I really wanted to say. Therefore my experiences that come with youth, kicked off the love of poetry that I have to this very day. I live with my husband, our young daughter and the fur baby family. My family and close friends have been the driving force I needed to publish my work. If my poems can reach out to others whom may be needing to connect with their emotions on a higher plane and possibly give them the strength to face their demons as writing them helped me face mine, then I would be surely humbled.
