My journeys into the future began out of necessity. They began out of a need to meet my future self and train under my own tutelage. They began because I was a wreck emotionally. Devastated by divorce and the deaths of two loved ones, I desperately needed to heal.
There are times when life sends you reeling, like a punch drunk fighter who has just taken one on the chin, head spinning, lost in a daze, you stagger around not knowing what to do, or even where you are. That’s how I felt when I turned 40. My wife had just left me and I was broken hearted on so many levels, it is hard to capture the hurt, loss and loneliness in words. Of course, as unique and specific and special as our own heartbreak feels, everyone who has loved and lost has felt that same heart-wrenching, crushing feeling. In many ways, it felt like I had lost my entire life, not just my wife. We were happily married with two boys. In fact, I grew up in a loving and wonderful family with one brother, and had always wanted to have the exact same thing when I grew up. So, losing my marriage and family felt like I was losing my entire life, losing everything I had longed for and wanted and worked for since I was a kid.
I watched myself as if I were moving through life in a daze, and knew that something had to change. I knew that there had to be more, that I had an important purpose to fulfill, but I had no idea how to discover what it was.
So I began training with him—with Corey, my future self—because there simply was no one else in the world who could point me to all the right teachers, and teach me everything I needed to learn in order to heal my wounds and find my true purpose. The only person who could teach the middle-aged Corey Lewis was the elderly Corey Lewis, the one who had already lived through those decades of life and learning, the one who had already met those teachers, read those books, and lived through those experiences.
So, I began astral projecting, or quantum jumping, forward into my own future on this plane of existence in order to meet and learn from my future self through meditation.
As I left my meditating body I would feel myself propelled up into the sky, flying forward and upward toward the clouds. I had been taking flying lessons for several months at that time so I had good clear images in my memory to work with. I would fly higher and higher, like going up for a power-on stall with the stall siren wailing, but in this flight all was quiet. Silently I sailed up and through the clouds, and into the bright expanse of sky and space. Far out ahead of me I could see the vast blackness of space filled with bright blinking stars, and swirling lights and colors. Then, I felt my momentum slow, and my body turn, and at the zenith of my arc, I stood before a door. Opening it and stepping through, I suddenly felt myself falling down the back side of the arc, just like cresting that first hill on a roller coaster, and I would drop down through a swirling black tube, with colors and darkness spinning around me while sounds buzzed in my head, until I was spit out into the bright emptiness of space again. Then, a second drop and I was falling back down through clouds, and plummeting toward the earth. I watched as the planet rushed up to meet me, seeing greens and browns coming into view, then mountains and forests and open meadows, until I recognized my parent’s place in the Colorado Rockies. This is where Corey would usually choose to meet me for our conversations. I could see their house below, rushing up toward me.
My momentum would slow as I neared the ground and I’d drop softly into a chair on the deck. Then, unhurried and as natural as you please, Corey would emerge from the house, usually with two cups of tea in his hands, and we would begin to talk.
The idea to begin Quantum Jumping into my future came to me from my Silva Method training. Jose Silva is world famous for his Silva Mind Control Method, which essentially teaches you how to reach Alpha brain wave levels and do all kinds of work there with your conscious and unconscious mind. In our waking state, Beta, our brains produce waves at about 21 cycles per second. As we relax into a meditative trance, or hypnotic state, our brain waves slow to Alpha, which is between 7 and 14 cycles per second. Below that is Delta, sleep, and farther down is Theta, unconsciousness. Once we enter the alpha state we can program the unconscious directly, both hemispheres of our brain are activated, and MRIs show a larger percentage of it is being used than at any other time, and thus we have a wide range of new perceptions and abilities in this state.
Burt Goldman, a long time Silva Method instructor and practitioner, initially developed the concept and practice of Quantum Jumping. The basic concept comes out of Quantum Physics: that there are an infinite number of alternate planes of existence, that we live in a multi-verse, and that it is theoretically possible to bridge time-space and visit these other planes of existence in the multi-verse. In each, we have an alternate self, who has made different choices and lived different lives. These selves have come to be called doppelgangers, “twin walkers.” Burt decided while teaching a course on creativity, to go to alpha level and jump to one of these parallel realities where he was a famous photographer. After several meditation sessions, or quantum jumps, Burt who had no training in photography created a technique, now called Burtons, of taking hundreds of photos from one location and putting them together like a puzzle to create a single photo. He later used quantum jumping to become a pianist, and yet he cannot read music and doesn’t know chords, but plays beautifully. Similarly, although he had never painted before he used quantum jumping to become a sought after artist, whose work sells well and now hangs in museums all over the world… The list goes on with a variety of newly acquired talents and skills that usually take a life-time to master. And, Burt did it all after the age of 70.
Today, Quantum Physics is showing us that reality is not quite what we think it is. In fact, the farther you go into studying Quantum Physics the more you get the feeling of going down the rabbit hole. Quantum theory sounds more like science fiction, more like it’s produced by magicians than scientists in lab coats, but you know what they say is stranger than fiction?
The truth is that we live in a holographic multi-verse of pulsating waves of energy. What appears as solid matter is in reality bundles of waves of energy. And, all of this energy, all of these waves are interconnected, are in fact, one, just like every individual wave on the ocean is completely connected to, and inseparable from the rest, all part of one whole. Because this is the case, things, people, events, and worlds are not so far apart as one thinks.
For example, Nobel Prize winning pioneer of quantum physics, Niels Bohr, discovered that once subatomic particles come into contact with each other, they forever after influence each other, instantaneously, over any time and distance. This effect is called “Entanglement” or “Non-Locality,” referring to the inter-connected, or entangled nature of the particles, and the fact that location, or the space separating them, has no impact on their ability to affect each other or the time it takes for that effect to cover the distance between them. Once two particles are entangled the actions of one will always, and instantaneously, influence the other, no matter how far they are separated.
Once we have become entangled on the quantum level, we, like the subatomic quanta we are made of, will influence and be influenced by those we are entangled with “instantaneously.” Thus, as many spiritual teachers, in addition to physicists, explain it, we are involved in a process of co-creating reality, with our other selves, and with the world around us.
