Preface My higher, true self longed for me to align with her for decades. She watched me go astray, and like a mother hoping her misguided child will find the way home, she patiently waited. My constant striving for perfection, not feeling good enough, and self-sabotage led me farther and farther away from her. Yet I heard her silently crying out for my attention. I felt the tug on my heart and the yearning deep in my soul. I knew she was there. I was aware of a soft inner voice urging me to allow her to shine through. But I abandoned her because a louder, fearfilled voice drowned hers out with misconceptions, judgments, guilt, and criticism. I was continuously misled by this harsh voice to play it small and safe. I was full of fear and lacking the self-confidence to allow myself to reach my highest potential. Self-sabotaging behaviors led to an eating disorder, depression, and plastic surgery—all in an attempt to project what was, in my mind, the perfect image. Over time, I overcame anorexia and depression. I finally learned the concept of self-love. I recently decided to visit a plastic surgeon again, but this time to reverse a prior surgery. This is what I like to call my ultimate act of self-love thus far. I wanted to free myself from self-limiting beliefs and the consequences of them. I needed to be comfortable in my own body, and it was time to eliminate anything that hindered that. Beliefs that are formed and decisions made from a low-self-esteem point of view harm us on a soul level. As I began the alignment process with my higher self, I began to shed these beliefs and their consequences. The following is a recounting of my life experiences from my point of view, based on my recall of events as well as personal journal entries, notes from healing sessions, books, trainings, and workshops I’ve attended and participated in online. It is told from my heart in an attempt to not only free my soul but also to connect with others who may have similar stories and circumstances and are on a journey of healing and aligning with their divine, true self.

About the Book
Go Buggy Go is about how negative patterns and beliefs can lead to self-sabotage and not feeling good enough. It’s about how to use embedded beliefs and patterns as guiding lessons to learn to live from a more healed, higher-self perspective. It’s about relationships, finding self-love, and discovering inner strength. It is about love, loss, triumphs, and failures. It involves emotions that range from fear, resentment, and depression to forgiveness, perseverance, and courage. It is about a journey of realigning with one’s true, higher self and the struggle it takes to do so when one has strayed so far for so long from that place.
About the Author
Maria D’Alessandro is a Certified Yoga Instructor and a MA Licensed Teacher with a Master’s Degree in Special Education. She was born and raised in Boston, MA where she raised her two children, and still resides. She has used her life experiences and challenges as lessons to grow and develop her self-awareness and self-confidence to make choices in her life that are guided by her intuition and her desire to live the life that she believes she has been destined for. It is her intention to share her experiences with others who may be on a similar journey and perhaps inspire others to begin to find their own path and begin their journey as well.
