We personally had a good financial situation, we already were able to do the things we loved doing, my husband was already self employed and although he did (and still does) work very hard, we did have the flexibility to call the shots in our own life. On paper I really had the perfect life but the honest truth was, that I had started to forget who I was and what I enjoyed doing etc OUTSIDE of being a mother. I felt that I was no longer KARI, I was just “someone’s mum” and “someone’s wife”. The saddest thing was that I felt guilty to say that out loud for fear of being judged by others that would give anything to be in my position. But what i have realised and learnt about ME over the past few years is that I am actually a much more engaged and happy mama BECAUSE I have found balance between being a mother and being ME." - Kari
