About the Book

Awakening is the creative expression of a naïve, South African-born Indian who immigrated to the United States. Nishi is a third generation South African who grew up during the apartheid and witnessed the liberation of her country from the grasp of oppression, Awakening is a sampling of the beginnings of a poet. Author Nishi B. Jumna is opening up to creative expression while she explores the impact her Indian heritage has on her life in South Africa and, now, in the United States.

Awakening dips its toes into different aspects of Nishi’s colorful life. The reader journeys from innocence to experience; from science to the embrace of the divine; from rights enforced to those oppressed. Explore your boundaries as you journey through the realms of Awakening. May you find a part of your beautiful self that has been hiding from you. Blessings on your path.

About the Author

Nishi is a scholar of the healing sciences. In her practice, she has embraced both Eastern and Western approaches to healing. Her journey has taken her through a collage of life experiences which has brought her back home to the heart of healing, which she believes lies in spirituality. In Awakening, Nishi shares some of her experiences and how they have impacted her journey. She is a midwife and a psychiatric nurse who runs a holistic healing practice called Adi Shaktee. Nishi is currently, a practicing intensive care nurse and is working on completing a Masters in spiritual guidance. Nishi currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
