About the Author
Debbie Sumner, first-time author, retired from Warren General Hospital in Warren Pennsylvania after a 43-year career in Imaging Services, 33 of those as a manager. She lives in Warren with her husband Ken and their beloved adopted Black Labs, Bailey and Dakota. Josh was an only child. Ken has two adult sons. In October of 1999, a year and a half after Josh’s death, Debbie established a local transplant support group, “Close to the Heart”. This group was founded to honor Josh’s memory and to help local people and their families with much-needed emotional support before and after transplant. After 20 wonderfully rewarding years, Close to the Heart Transplant Support Group was dissolved to allow others who may be interested take up the reins, supporting local people who are on the organ and tissue transplant and donation track.
