I have found that when a story of significance is told to another, more stories appear. So many time when I tell such a story people then feel safe to tell their stories. Truly, I believe that we grow spiritually when we share the unexplainable or (mysterious) experiences in life but are often afraid of being labeled naïve, crazy, or delusional. Once freed to express the inexpressible in a relationship with safety and love, inspiration and sometimes emotional healing happens. I am convinced that we can grow significantly when we listen to, without judgment, the stories of our brothers and sisters in life's journey. As I have listened, even the most seemingly strange experiences have given great meaning about the interconnectedness of our humanity.

About the Author
Billie Harlan L.S.W., A.C.S.W. taught Theology and English in parochial schools for ten years. She has been a psychotherapist since 1995 specializing in adult trauma. In addition, Billie has been a hospice chaplain since 2003.
