“He hears you,” Lily said. “Something about your voice is very soothing to him. He just wants to listen to your heart. He’s just hearing your heart. The reason why his soul is kind of on hold is because—hearing your heart isn’t necessarily all the lovey-dovey stuff; it’s a way for him to take responsibility for his choices and his actions. Hearing your heart means to be able to express from the core of your being all that you have felt and experienced up to this time. Hearing your heart is also a way for your heart to release and to feel at peace. It doesn’t matter what anyone else’s opinions and thoughts are that are negative. Everybody has an opinion; they’re like belly buttons. You must listen to your own heart in regards to him. It’s almost like when a child does something they aren’t supposed to do, and a good parent will intercede and tell them why they shouldn’t have done that. And this is almost like hearing your heart. The kindness that you have shown him is excruciating for his soul because he can’t accept it, because he feels as though he has violated something so sacred, so beautiful, so sacred, and so pure that his soul . . . Okay, I have to stop because he’s right here. What the heck happened to him? What happened, sweetheart?”

About the Book
My husband, Mark, had always suffered from depression, but during the winter and spring of 2008 it began to get worse. After he went missing for twenty-five hours, a frantic search began—and ended when Mark was found dead in his car. My three kids and I struggled to cope with our loss; the pain was unbearable. For the past seven years I have been on a journey that has taken me through tragedy and spiritual healing. Through a series of events, I was drawn to Lily, a gifted medium. From that point on, my life changed completely. I learned things I would have never thought possible—such as the fact that life continues after death. I learned Mark was in the gray space and hadn’t gone into the light. I also learned I had another purpose, or, as Lily put it, “the divine has a greater purpose for you, and you’re the best candidate to help those who are in between realms.” Through this incredible journey of loss and survival, I found this undying faith in the heart of darkness—recognizing this as Mark’s gift.
About the Author
Kandace Kay is the youngest of eight children who were raised by a single mom in a small Midwestern town. At seventeen, she left for college. She spent four and a half years there and met her husband, Mark. Mark and Kandace married and had three children, two boys and a girl. She now lives in the Midwest and works as an academic advisor for a private college. For the past seven years Kandace has been o n a journey that has taken her through tragedy and spiritual healing, rediscovering her true self in the process.
