An unusual teacher and a furry bumble bee: a valuable lesson if you take the time to listen.
About the Author
Hello, I am Nancy Callahan Moore. I was a curious little red-headed girl who spent long days in my back yard as a child. The creatures—big and mostly small—in my backyard world fascinated me. I imagined them as humans and talked to them. Our “conversations” taught me to listen and learn some valuable lessons that I have been able to draw from throughout my life. A big furry bumble bee landed right on my thumb. I am now sixty-six years old and a long way from my childhood backyard in Hingham, Massachusetts. I still remember what he taught me. This is my first published book. I am excited to have my granddaughter illustrate it for me. Her illustration of the main character is a perfect match for both of us as children. Hello, I am Emily Reera from Gilford, New Hampshire. I attend Endicott College, majoring in interior design. Art has been my passion ever since I could hold a pencil. I have had several pieces—ranging from drawing to photography—gain recognition and awards. My artwork is typically highly realistic. This was my first time doing anything of this sort. It was a nice challenge. The illustration of the main character of this book was inspired by a character I drew on thank you notes a long time ago that represented myself as a little girl with red hair. I am excited about this opportunity to work with my grandmother in creating this book. I look forward to more opportunities like this in the future.
