We held Dad's memorial service in Ohio. Right afterward, I started seeing the number 44 everywhere, or number sequences that included 44. My change would be 44 cents, or my bank balance would end in .44. Every time I looked at the clock the time would end in :44. I’d be driving and the license plate of the car in front of me would have 44 in it or I’d glance up and see exit 44. For some reason, I immediately equated 44 with my dad. I just knew it was a sign from him. Since I had to fly back to Oregon after his services, I had a box of photos and other items shipped to me. When it arrived and I unpacked the box, I found a photo of him in his high school basketball jersey…number 44. As soon as I saw the photo, I remembered him always jokingly saying “number 44 on the scorecard, number 1 in your heart”. I still see 44 all the time and I always know it’s him.
