The firefly seemed to recognize the surroundings and lit up within its temporary home. “We are almost there my little friend,” said Marcus hoping his words would bring comfort. “He trusts your light Marcus,” said Auntie looking at him lovingly. Marcus looked at her with a confused expression. “Love, is a form of light energy,” explained Auntie “and yours is strong”. Marcus gave her a big ear to ear smile. “Like a super hero not in costume?” she said.

As an educator and educational researcher, Dr. Malungu is concerned that our youngest, media savvy generation are losing the chance to experience the magic of reading; preferring instead to rely on a more passive, media-rich exposure to literature. While entertaining, movies are someone else's interpretation of a story.
