Hearing God’s Voice in the Noise

Then, one morning something extraordinary happened. I found myself transported back in time to a moment in King David’s life after reciting, “Thou prepareth a table before me in the presence of mine enemies”. I looked through his eyes as a celebration was going on in a large room or hall in house. Many people were there, and, in that moment, King David knew God had blessed him. He knew that his circumstance was a result of the power of God and not his own. He was humbled as he felt the grace and the love of God in that moment. My vision lasted only a few seconds. When I snapped out of this vision, I was flooded with emotions of gratitude. I understood what had just happened. David felt God’s grace. God’s grace lingered with me. I did not want the moment to fade. That experience was so awesome. I have told this story to many people. That event changed my understanding of prayer and meditation. I felt blessed to witness David’s table of abundance. Another morning while saying the same line, I heard God’s voice ask, “Why is your table empty?”. Every time, I imagined “Thou prepareth a table before me in the presence of mine enemies”, I saw a concrete table with nothing on it. The question startled me. The empty table represented that I was not worthy of abundance and prosperity. It symbolized that I was afraid to ask for what I wanted or needed. The empty table represented how I felt alone on a subconscious level. The statement starts with “Thou prepareth a table...” God prepared this table and I saw nothing. That is when I had a moment of wisdom – a wonderful “aha!” moment. God is the creator of all and when He prepares a table, it is impossible for it to be empty. I looked at that table and asked myself “what do I want on that table?” The table changed from a simple concrete table to a very long table that stretched out to infinity. The size represented how much God has done in my life and will do in my life. I imagined a table with good food, gold, money, flowers, gems and more piled on top. Good friends, great teachers, healers, angels, and others sat around the table. It was the table of abundance and prosperity. I felt love, peace, and joy while sitting at this table. God continually adds to this table. I am forever grateful for the awakening to my view and blessed by the abundance shown to me.
