My Sacred Lover

Our Saturday encounter felt like a chit chat with a friend I had not seen for a long time catching up on daily life events. Our energies were getting reacquainted. There were certain words and a scent of a familiar fragrance in the air that triggered a higher connection as if it was saying ‘Remember each other, it is time.’ Everything around us came to a stop for time passed swiftly and unnoticed. I did not have the urge to leave just yet. All my concerns and fears had dissipated entirely. I was flabbergasted. A very calm, soothing atmosphere surrounded us making us feel welcomed and completely in tune. At the end of this meeting, we both suddenly realized that time had passed quickly. Dining together had turned out to be a lovely and funny gathering. Everything appeared to be in the right place. Every dish was just perfectly seasoned and prepared, and people around us were kind and funny like they were engaging in our moment of alignment and joining us with happiness and joy. At times, when I was listening and observing Chester, I asked myself ‘who is this perfect stranger?’. He had a way with him that I could not resist. I was bewitched and bewildered at how everything about that night was perfectly orchestrated. Hence, I abandoned myself in that pure, simple joy. Who was this man that I did not wish that moment to end? I could hear my heart singing an old familiar tune that was rather new and refreshing. What was happening to me? All my concerns had dissipated entirely, and I felt so excited and peaceful. It was not like love at first sight, as they say. It was more like a good old wine that needed to breathe. And then, there was a festival of sweetness with subtle and delicate flavors in my mouth as I drink it. That is what was happening while I was looking at him. While I was in his presence I could only see this great, gentle, and kind soul who was opening his vessel of love to me and offered me all he had; his being, his unconditional love, the kind that provides everything without restriction or condition and does not expect anything in return. The message I received from every aspect of his being said: “this is what I offer and give to you, only say yes or no, either way, I will still be happy.” I have once read what Buddhists say about how you feel when meeting your soul mate: “If you meet somebody and your heart pounds, your hands shake, your knees go weak, that’s not the one. When you meet your ‘soul mate’ you’ll feel calm. No anxiety, no agitation.” That is exactly how I felt. By the end of that evening, I was already under a spell. However, I wasn’t totally enchanted until Chester drove me home. Since we lived very close to the restaurant, it was a short drive. We stopped in front of my apartment entrance and kept a lively conversation. Laughter was present all night long.
