" If You were to Peer Back into 1954" If you were to peer back into 1954 and part the twin veils of Child Hate and Child Phobia, you would find a four-year-old girl with soft brunette curls screaming at the top of her lungs on top of a tool table, Maryjane’s fighting for her life, throttled by a looming goon in overalls brandishing a rusty saw over her half naked body. "Shut up! Shut up! I'll kill you; I'll kill you!" He growls just like The Big Bad Wolf and he means it. Freeze Frame. Pan back to a deserted Southern California driveway; low, boxed Eugenia bushes line its borders. The house is a strictly Spanish-LA Confidential-style. Concealed in its centre, a patio littered with long-dead banyan leaves, stems shriveled, blackened, so coarse, protruded and blackened you could charcoal sketch with them; a bird fountain, bird shit petrified on the bull-nosed lip. No remembers when it last flowed; it has been stagnate forever. A dog barks uncontrollably in the distance. A red and white” Beware of Dog" sign dangles off-kilter from the next-door neighbor’s chain link fence; piles of decaying calcifying animal excrement butt up to it. In the middle of the driveway, no more than ten feet from the garage, a square blue-green child’s plastic pool stops sloshing, with every shriek its sea horses shrink from its floor. The air in the garage is the same air that hangs in the Old Livery Stable in Knott’s Ghost Town on Boot Hill. Staid, static, sarcophagic air; black air, off-the-air air, a black void, a black hole, the same kind of black void where a child's screams for mercy never reach the ears of the living…let alone a savvy woman who might happen by. No savvy woman will happen by. Woman has been abandoned. The girl will survive. She will write speak sing dance draw act and teach women who they really are and what is wrong with world and how to fix it. This girl does not abandon Woman. And Woman does not abandon her. For she is the one who sees Through Female Eyes.
