She tried to peer to her right but only got part way. She saw a tall, gorgeous man, dressed in blue, with a concerned look on his face. Is this for real she kept thinking everything that has just happened is my imagination? As Koby had this thought, two monks came barging in with food, water, and some odd-looking vials. She tried to speak.
“What, what… wait?” Everyone stopped and waited for her to speak again. She tried to, but it came out as a squeak. Koby cleared her throat and rasping, “Can you tell me what you are doing?” she looked at the monks. Their eyes bulging and looking like they were about to cry.
“We are to put ointments on your hands and feet to ease your pain.”
”No.” She coughed “I will be ok.” groaned again. “No please.” A cold stare confronted her from a handsome man, as she looked to her left. Tall and muscular with piercing green eyes, something she had never seen before. She nodded and looked to the other side of her and spoke.
“Can you please help me sit right up in bed by re-adjusting the pillows again?” The two men worked together to do what they asked of them. With no words they adjusted the pillows and assumed their usual position.
”Are you well your highness?” the man on the right said. Did the man on the left not have a voice?
Koby was not sure what to say. She wanted to cry and run away. Her body ached and there seemed nothing could ease her pain. Koby stared at them and blinked, looking around the room. Everything seemed overwhelming and too many people huddled in the small the room and kept looking at her. Her head dizzy, and not concentrate, a slight pounding started in her temples.
It seemed quiet for a while. Koby did not know what to say, and the crowded room with continued stares of creatures watching her every move it became very uncomfortable. She tried to keep it together, she did not want to think about where or who she was, or what she had to do. They were all expecting her to do or say something and she did not understand how to act. Voxon sensing her nervousness tried to help.
”Would your majesty like to meet your guardians? Perhaps some of us can leave the room after, so you can rest.” Koby breathed a sigh of relief.
”Oh… yes. That would be great.” Still saying as little as possible, she continued.
She looked at him and he bowed, keeping his head down as he replied, “My name is Voxon, your highness, I am king of the Vanishers.” he then stood, face upward but not meeting her eyes. He turned to Kremlin, and she stepped forward. “This is my lead council kin, Kremlin.” Koby did not understand what formalities they had on this world, but she did not like the 'Your Highness' and no eye contact… or the bowing.
”Thank you Voxon.” They both curtsied and started to leave…
”Um sorry,” they both stopped and turned around. She did not want Voxon to leave. He seemed to understand her the most.
“Yes, your highness?”
“Um Voxon would you stay… Please?”
“Your highness.” Kremlin left the room. Koby must have looked confused as the monks stepped forward.
“Kin your majesty,” Talbart dare imply. “All creatures are all known as Kin on Logan. We are the Monks of Tri-Vinter, this is Felix and my name is Talbart, we are here to help you while you stay in the monastery. Please inform us if there is anything we can do for you?” With that the monks left a bell on the side table, bowed and left the room. 'Three down' Koby thought. In the right-hand far corner of the room the nymph like kin, with wings, stood forward. She looked at their wings in awe.
Both Fae and mage kin introduced themselves, one by one, then left the room. Koby closed her eyes and sighed. The three Kin rushed forward, and she put her hand up to stop them. She truly did not understand what to think or do.
“I am ok,” she said firmer than she intended. “Sorry… sorry.” They all appeared worried and when she re-opened her eyes, she sensed their despair and concern. “Please… I am ok. Yes, I have pain. Apparently, I have traveled a long way.” She sighed again and took another deep breath.
“I am NOT used to being called Your highness or Your majesty and all this bowing.” Koby waved her hands around. “I am not, it's not, I feel very uncomfortable with it. My name is Koby. My name… is… Koby.” she trailed off with her words as she noticed the way they were looking at her. Almost in awe, consumed by whom she represented. James thought he would say something to make her more comfortable. She seemed to struggle.
”My manners, your majesty, my name is James and I am the only representative of the Normal kin. You will meet my family in time.” She had traveled to another world in a different dimension to find the most gorgeous looking man. But… 'your majesty' come on, how could she get this overbearing wording and bowing to stop.
She looked over at the silent one.
“Do you have a name?” she asked, he looked at her with a blank stare. “Do you have a voice?” she asked, more pronounced. She saw Voxon nudge him and she gave him a wide smile. Caspice's heart fell to the floor. No one had ever affected him like this in all his years of living. He felt Voxon nudge him again.
“So sorry my Queen.” his deep voice penetrated her chest, “My name is Caspice and I am the King of Shadow.” He spoke, Koby thought. He appeared ridged and cold.
