Gladiator stood silently under the spot light in a jam-packed auditorium in Edinburgh. A hush had fallen in the hall, the usual effect of his charismatic presence. His Indigo eyes were keenly going through his audience ascertaining what they needed to hear today. After a few seconds he smiled and said “I am privileged to be amongst you my friends. I sense you have some questions for me. Please go ahead and ask, before I tell you that you are ultimate magicians fearlessly creating the life of your dreams.” An old man slowly got up from his chair and said “Could you please explain what you mean by the words ‘Awareness’ and ‘Consciousness’?” Gladiator said “Awareness? Awareness is what you truly are my friend! In fact by asking this question you are searching for yourself.” After a short pause he said “Dictionaries explain awareness as ‘having knowledge of, perception, cognizance etc. but the meaning of these synonyms -awareness and consciousness, in spirituality is beyond the comprehension of your mind, your intellect, because your mind is within this boundless awareness. It is hard to pin-point it because it is not a physical thing, it is not tangible enough, it is ever present, it does not come and go and so, my friend your mind finds it nearly impossible to grasp its existence, but, I repeat that is what you are, your True self is! Yes, you are boundless, limitless, infinite Awareness, nothing more, nothing less! You cannot perceive it with your logical mind but that doesn’t mean IT doesn’t exist!” Gladiator picked up a glass of water from the nearby table and said “Let us focus our attention on this glass for a few seconds. Now I put this glass away. What happened to your focus, your attention? It is still there. It is there without the glass to focus your attention on, but it is still there and it is aware it exists even without anything outside of it to focus on! In other words, what remains, when you take away your attention from outside objects, is Awareness, the real you.” Gladiator smiled and asked “Does it make sense my friend?”
