Chapter 1
Energy Centers
The human body, when broken down to its minuscule components, is composed of living cells. These living cells are the microscopic components that carry out work and allow us to be alive. Cells are capable of vibrations, which in turn are indicative of vitality. The higher the vibration of the cells, the higher the rate of vitality present in them. It is when cells undergo damage, oxidative stress, and degeneration that lower vibrations break down the mechanisms of the cells, leading to ill health.
Many alternative healing modalities (e.g., Ayurveda, acupuncture), spiritual practices (e.g., yoga), and cultures acknowledge the presence of seven energy centers. These energy centers, most commonly termed chakras, are the primary centers for energy deviation and disease. These centers are the mind, body, and
spirit connectors that determine the overall vitality of the physical human self. If you drew a line straight down the human body, encompassing perfect human symmetry, then you would intersect these energy centers.
Especially for beginners, it is understood that these tables can be rather overwhelming. For the purpose of understanding further material, one should focus on the basic principles. Understand that there are seven energy centers of the body. Familiarize yourself with their coloration, as I personally find this useful when remembering crystal associations and imbalances. The name of the chakra gives you a basic glimpse of its overall properties. Therefore, it would be useful to recognize that as well.
The chakras, or energy centers of the body, although not visible to the human eye, are characterized as swirling circles of light. It is this wheel of light energy that emits vibrations corresponding to a certain frequency. An illustration of these frequencies and their corresponding chakras can be found in the table below.
That said, deviation does not influence the outcome of wavelength, color, and musical note. All chakras, despite their variability in measurement, still are unique in their nature of frequency and response.
Let’s further our knowledge of information presented in the table. The wavelength (nm) represents the spectrum of visible light, which is represented in the color association of the designed chakra.
Note: Frequency and wavelength are two measurements used for quantifying light.
Fun Fact
An objects coloration is determined by the reflection and absorption of light. For example: a blue object would reflect the blue light ray, whereas all other visible color rays would be absorbed. Therefore, an object’s coloration is a reflection of the light it does not absorb.
Shades like black and white either absorb all light in the case of black or absorb no light in the case of white. Therefore, black reflects no light colors and white reflects all colors.
In simplistic terms, the frequency is the rate of vibration in Hz at which cells or the chakra are moving. Therefore, it is equal to a number of waves passing a central point per second. Frequency of light waves is a fundamental concept in understanding the core of crystal energy healing and other alternative healing modalities.
Alternative healing modalities aim to bring balance in the case of excess or deficient energy centers. It is in the state of imbalance that the human body manifests physical illness. Alternative healing modalities will be discussed in further detail in later chapters. However, let’s briefly bring awareness to the topics of crystal healing and frequency correlation. Crystals are inherently crystalline structures, composed of multiple atoms, organized in a crystalline lattice. In accordance to the set crystalline structure, the atoms of the crystal will vibrate at a certain frequency. Crystals also absorb and reflect light energy, which is why some crystals, such as amethysts, maybe purple, while others, such as carnelian, will convey red. When a crystal is vibrating at a certain frequency, we are able to match it with the frequency of a chakra.
By placing a red jasper stone over an imbalanced base/root chakra, we are able to raise the frequency of that chakra in the hope it brings it back to center or balance. However, many imbalances are driven through emotional experience and mind-body-soul disconnect. Therefore, some patients may come straight back into balance, while others may require more healing time and personal development strategies.
The same concept and principles of frequency and balance can be applied to sound bowl therapy or music therapy. Notes emitted by the sound bowl or musical instruments influence the state of the
patient’s chakra, again in hopes it brings it back to balance. Think of this concept as a monkey see, monkey do concept. If you place a vibrating object of say 425Hz on your skin, the cells of your skin
beneath the object will begin to vibrate at that frequency as well. You can also parallel the concept to muscle memory and training. When soccer players continually run drills on agility and shooting,
they are training their bodies in that action. Therefore, when players face a situation in a game where they are one on one with a defense player, their bodies remember the quick agility drills and powerful
motion in scoring. The same thing works with your cells. You can program them and remind them of frequency, balance, and vitality. This is also seen in other healing modalities, such as acupuncture, where science is the basis of clinical practice.
The importance of this chapter is to understand that the human body can be looked at from the perspective of energy centers. These seven energy centers have inherent properties that hold a mind, body, soul connection. It is through imbalance that we manifest physical disease and emotional instability.
