About the Book
Songs of Avalon is a tale of magic, mystery, high emotion and human strength and frailty. It covers a great period of history when the chivalric code was at its height. Although the work is one of fantasy it is set firmly in a human reality with human emotions. No one since Tennyson has been brave enough to take on this legend and present it in the way that it is best expressed.
About the Author
He is a writer working in Yorkshire England, who has taken the Legends of King Arthur and given them his own unique twist. Following in the footsteps of Tennyson, Thwaites has cohered and rewritten the legend starting with its origin beyond the time of Arthur up till his death in the Battle Royal. He has unashamedly used verse as the most appropriate form for this type of story in an epic tale narrated by the crows (all that remain after the battle). Thwaites is a graduate and post graduate in both English and Drama and has worked as a teacher for twenty – eight years, but as a writer much longer. He has produced work collaboratively with other artists including the British sculptor, Graham Ibbeson.
