"Do you see the angels?" Amelia cried out. "See who?"Rita answered. "The angels...the beautiful angels," Amelia replied. "Where?" Rita turned towards Amelia but did not see anything. "There!" Amelia pointed to the angels just as they disappeared into the shrub. "Don't be crazy! There's nothing there. You're lying. Now let's go home!" Amelia didn't know what else to say or do, so she kept quiet and followed Rita's orders. Rita pulled on the reins and this time the donkey gave no resistance. They had been travelling for a short while when in the distance they saw a figure carrying a lantern walking towards them. "Is that you Rita? Amelia?" Maria shouted from afar. "Yes," they replied. Maria ran to them, handed the lantern to Amelia, seized the reins, took control in leading the donkey and taking the girls home. "I was very worried. You are late and it's dark," Maria said. "Mamma, I saw angels. They walked beside me," Amelia replied. "No you didn't... I didn't see anything... there was nothing there!" interrupted Rita. "Yes Mamma. I did see angels." Amelia responded. Maria stopped, looked around, then turned to Amelia's and said "No, my dear, you couldn't have seen any angels...Angels wouldn't be here and appear to us."

About the Book
What if a child believes in and encounters angels only for their experience to be dismissed, doubted and even ridiculed by loved ones? “Amelia’s Angelic Encounter” is an original story about such an occurrence. Amelia is a six year old, living an idyllic and simple rural life in Southern Italy during the late 1930’s. On an ordinary day, walking home after working in the orchard, Amelia encounters two angels. At first she is overjoyed and eager to tell everyone, but then doubts arise when family members disbelieve and laugh at her angelic adventure. Had she really seen angels? “Amelia’s Angelic Encounter” is dedicated to all those who believe in angels.
About the Author
Guglielmo Placanica lives in Western Australia. He has published poetry, short stories and writes for an on-line magazine on cultural diversity, “Cultural Times”. He is a creative individual who has a passion for telling stories. From an early age, he loved hearing tales about his parents growing up in Italy, listening to teachers read from the classics and his own personal reading fed his imagination. Through his stories, Guglielmo seeks to engage the reader on a journey of adventure, curiosity and wonderment.
