I awake to this dim light. I can feel I’m being pushed in a chair, and ahead I see this very long passageway. The walls are high, and the colours dim. The floor is smooth and beige. The passage is dark- as though a great shadow is cast over the entire stretch. I don’t understand. I see at the end of the passage is a door with a glass opening in the upper half. It seems to have a turning to the side, with a bright light beyond. That scares me. Where am I? Who am I? What....? I hear a voice behind me, and sense a body pushing me along. Who is behind me? My stomach contracts in fear. WHO AM I? Who’s behind me? What’s happening? Where am I? Where are they taking me to? I don’t understand anything. Fear screams in my ears. Thankfully, the dark soon descends.

About the Book

About the Author
Pheasant is nineteen years old and is studying a diploma in Equine Sciences in Pretoria, South Africa. During the practical year of her studies she has a near- fatal fall from a horse. Written ten years after the accident, Pheasant involves the reader in each moment of her recovery, the highs and lows, and ultimately shows us what we can all overcome.
