My story: why you should read this book
Reading this book will improve your life.
Many people ask me how my day to day life is now, whether I ever have problems and what I do to stay balanced. I am a woman, mother of three children, wife and a professional. In many ways, I’m sure I’m just like you.
My change began when I decided to act on behalf of my balance, exercise full leadership and recognize that it is possible to be happy. Today, as part of my lifestyle, I include the "daily balance" and allow myself with discipline and joy, drops of happiness: I love walking on the beach, drinking water and admiring nature, I’m passionate about dancing, traveling and I love my family and my work. However, it was not always like this.
"CONGRATULATIONS!" were the word the director of a university in Silicon Valley, California USA, said to me after I finished a program. It's funny what sometimes happens to us when we reach a goal. A feeling of happiness and satisfaction fills our hearts. At the same time we feel uncertain about the future and we wonder what our next challenge will be and who we will meet or what we will do.
That diploma was an important connotation for my life: First, it was the culmination of one of my personal goals. I have always been a knowledge lover. Second, it was the gateway to the corporate level which that would help me continue my career as an executive after having paused for a couple of years to have my second child.
The days that followed my accomplishment presented some questions:
• Do I want to develop in the business world as a senior executive?
• How much of my personal life will this new role require if I want to be recognized?
• Should I put aside those hobbies that make me happy to perform 100% at work?
• What roles will my husband and children take in this new life?
• Do I want to develop professionally without "losing" them in my life?
• What’s my mission in life?
It is very easy to get confused about what one "wants" and what one "has" to do in life. Perhaps this question was precisely what helped me clarify my new path in life.
Taking into account my personal accomplishment, I decided to start a path that many people would describe as “crazy”, especially after having received a “conventional” professional title. However, the path that I chose lines up with the most important mission of all human beings: do one’s share in the search for a sustainable society.
When I see the change the world is facing on so many levels: social, economic, cultural, even changes in beliefs and values, it’s impossible not to think about the contribution that we as adults and in some cases as parents must make to these changes.
The leaders of this generation are surely responsible for giving the right message to “their world.” Regardless of how big or small they may be, messages can have enough strength to change common people’s initiatives. And common people are the only ones capable of making a better world and an encouraging future.
Chiavenato Idalberto (1993) states the following: “leadership is the interpersonal influence exerted in a situation, directed throughout the process of human communication to attain one or many specific goals”. And according to Rallph M. Stogdill in his synthesis on leadership investigation, he points out that “There are as many definitions of leadership, as people that have defined the concept.”
For me, the description of a leader is supported in the idea that everyone, absolutely everyone, exerts some kind of leadership among someone else in this society. Be it in our workplace, with our families and friends, in the social circle in which we develop or with our children, but mainly we have the ability to lead our own lives and realities.
Therefore the power to positively influence and change, sustain or improve the decisive factor in the creation of our society lies within each of us. What I mean is that we are the change engines, the architects of our reality and the promoters of the world we leave to the generations to come.
There’s no need to be a multimillionaire or a genius to be a balanced leader, but adding a few minutes of BALANCE each day will make a huge difference in one’s quest to be a leader.
This book is full of daily experiences that I’ve had, as well as stories of some of my patients. This book is a united collection of advice you can apply to your life in order to develop as a leader and take control of your life, thereby helping to change the world.
If you chose this book, surely you don’t want to keep living without purpose. You might need to change something about your life, or improve it in some way. Whatever your dream may be, from losing weight, to finding the man of your dreams, changing jobs or having a happy family, this book will give you the tools you need to start now. Give yourself the opportunity to enjoy life, freeing yourself from the charges of the past and allow your dreams to come true.
To have a Balanced and happy life when you are old, you don’t need to wait for a miracle, suffer in life, or work like a slave.
What makes this book different?
The basic principles of balance and energy flow I work with are presented in a simple and understandable way, and invite us to maintain a harmonic life in every aspect of existence.
It is we, the balanced leaders, who make from our own existence the golden dream we long for.
