As sparks of the universe, each of us has a natural ability to create. Whatever you create in your life is your very own special cocktail that can bring you satisfaction and joy—your passion! This passion is inspired, and your motivation comes from within. In fact, many feel they must unleash their passions, whether it becomes a livelihood or a hobby; it must be released to manifest untold fulfillment.
You’ve likely heard of composers, such as Mozart, writing a symphony for several days on end, as though an inspirational faucet was turned on releasing musical notes in their heads, bringing through their fingers the most beautiful melodies, without a single thought guiding their compositions, just a knowingness within that their music must be written down and shared. It could be as simple or as complex as that for each of us with our own special ways of being.
What is your passion? How can you find it, if you don’t know already what it is? One way is to ask yourself the question, “What do I love to do?” If nothing comes to mind, then ask again—this time, with a pencil in your non-dominant hand—and write a response received from your intuition. It might surprise you! Writing with the hand opposite to the one you normally use allows your intuition to come forward and communicate from the heart. At first, you may feel resistance, but eventually, the flow of information brings clarity from your soul. An exercise well worth doing, particularly when you’re feeling like your life is lackluster.
Clearing Subconscious Patterns
Many of us seek to improve our lives, as well as assisting others to enhance their lives for their highest good. Unfortunately, how to physically manifest these intentional improvements may not be commonly known. You may have read and heard about this topic, yet so few of us actually use the principles of creating our desires. What knowledge will get us there? Vedic teachings tell us that for positive affirmations to have their greatest effect, we must first rid ourselves of negative thoughts that are firmly entrenched in our subconscious minds.
Releasing negative beliefs, emotions, and thoughts can be a daily task. Emotions such as anger, disappointment, and fear create instability and insecurity, not to mention that common state of depression. How do we release these unwanted feelings? A well-known process is noticing the feelings as thoughts come up, allowing them, feeling them, even embracing them, thanking them for their teachings, and letting them go.
Becoming aware of negative emotional patterns as they occur helps to release them early, rather than create more negative habits and behaviors. Eckhart Tolle calls these negative emotions and habits the “pain body.”
Suppose someone close to you says something that makes you feel bad; this experience triggers a train of thoughts from your subconscious, leaving you feeling even worse. How do you avoid this flood of bad feelings? First of all, take responsibility for your feelings and realize that no one “makes you feel bad,” unless you allow them to do so. Next, remember to stay aware as these thoughts first arise. When you stay aware, you might notice early the onset of the thoughts leading to the downward spiral of feelings and emotions triggered by an old emotional pattern.
Then catch this habitual pattern in the act, and say, “Oh, there it goes again”—let’s call it sad. “There’s sad again,” and immediately you intercept it. And let it go. You become the puppeteer instead of being the puppet, dancing to the tune of a happier feeling rather than that negative self-defeating emotion. Got it?
Becoming aware of the pattern early in the cycle allows you to take the charge out of the sting and remain neutral and in charge of how you are feeling. Becoming aware of your feelings and emotions and their habitual behavioral patterns is the key to creating a richer, happier life.
You could practice now with a real example. Think of a feeling of which you would like to have less—say, anger. Imagine yourself being really angry with a family member or your boss. Reflect on where in your body you feel this anger. Relax and begin to breathe deeply. Allow yourself to become aware of the sensations and where you feel them when you are angry—a tightness in the chest or a sharp pain in your abdomen. Just feel the sensations of anger in your body. If you discover a lot of strong negative sensations there, stay with the feelings, warmly and lovingly allowing each wave of anger sensation to dissolve and flow by as it arises. You may have to do this regularly for a time to release your anger behavior pattern. At some point, you will notice the strong anger sensations diminish, and in time, you will feel lighter, happier, and freer.
Interestingly, once you are clear of these negative emotional beliefs, habits, and patterns, your natural creativity will flow and manifest straight from the heart. This is considered to be inspiration! You may have heard how the most talented artists have painted flawlessly, allowing images to flow through their minds freely and onto their canvases. When we surrender our bodies to our hearts and to the divine spark or soul within, there is no telling what wonderful creations will come through.
As a spark of your Source, what awesome creations have you experienced coming through? Have you whispered exalted truths or wisdom in a conversation with your beloved? Maybe you have been on the dance floor and suddenly been taken to greater heights than you could ever have imagined. Perhaps you have experienced exalted feelings while surfing the ocean or climbing a mountain Or maybe you have written poetry and wondered how eloquent your own words were. Or have you ever created dinners for your family that impressed even your own palate? At times like these, have feelings of gratitude and appreciation flooded your heart? None of these creations are particularly uncommon. We are all magnificent light beings, whether we know it or not! Our feelings of gratitude and giving thanks for the many wonderful aspects of our lives, rather than taking them for granted, bring us to a higher vibration.
The higher our vibrations, the more likely we are to reach an expanded state of awareness where the present moment resides. This aware state can reside within us in everyday normal living. The more aware we all individually become, the more we are able to heal ourselves, and our relationships.
