About the Author

Author: Carolyn King, MD Carolyn King, MD, a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, is passionate about education and the integration of physical and mental health. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Michigan State University, School of Human Medicine treating patients, teaching medical students and residents in hospital practice at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr. King is a native Detroiter who trained at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in General, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She received her Medical Degree from the Wayne State School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. King is an active member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She has been quoted in the New York Times regarding the diagnostic challenges in Child Psychiatry. She has been featured on WJLB, Fox 17 Medical Moments, Wood TV 8 and JQ99 “Living Better with Dr. King” to discuss behavioral health topics. Author: Melvin Oatis, MD Melvin Oatis, MD, a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and pediatrician, maintains a private practice in midtown Manhattan treating children, adolescents and adults while supervising child fellows at the New York University Langone Child Study Center. Dr. Oatis is a native Detroiter who trained in New York, at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Pediatrics, Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He received his Medical Degree from the Wayne State School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan. Dr. Oatis is an active member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and the past president of the New York Council.
