“Elixir will do just fine,” Marsuveus said with conviction. “He doesn’t know it yet but he has tremendous power behind him. He is fulfilling his destiny.”
At that moment, the storm hit full force and the animals and Crysnix cowered for cover. The winds howled and ripped at the roots of the trees of Galvin Cove. The piercing rain finally began and blasted the shutters relentlessly but the windows behind remained unharmed.
Inside, the Humans huddled safely. Something in their hearts made them believe they were not alone and they would be all right.
Elixir tried to lead the storm away as debris twirled like screaming shrapnel in the air. Rocks, sand and bits of metal barely missed him as he flew away from the town and Castle Forest.
Prince Onyx, revelling in the looming destruction, laughed uproariously as he bashed Elixir down again and again like a vicious cat playing with a mouse. The animals and Crysnix watched in horror as Elixir, battered and frail, seemed to succumb to the feeding force of evil. With a final effort, he tried to raise his head but suddenly, everything went black and he slumped, motionless to the ground.
The hurricane whipped and tore at Galvin Cove and ripped and shred the young trees of Castle Forest. It seemed it was only a matter of time before the Dark Prince Onyx would win.
In the trees, the King mustered the courage of his kingdom. He flew above the animals, birds and Crysnix on the back of Marsuveus and shouted to the expectant faces below.
“Take heart! Remember our strategy! Fight the fear! Fight the fear!”
