I didn’t think I had any tears left, but the quicker I walked the more they flowed. They streamed down my face beneath my sunglasses, over my cheeks and dribbled down my coat onto the ground. I had no control over them. I had tissues in my pocket, but I didn’t bother to use any. It felt good to let them freefall. After I’d walked a long while I stopped on a corner and raised my eyes to see where I was. There in front of me, was a symbol, a shape, one I couldn’t believe. I blinked several times, and had expected what I had seen to have disappeared.
I blew my nose, wiped my face and stared across the street. An instant infusion of bliss swirled through my body. There was an almost perfect shaped heart that had been naturally formed of snow on a two story rooftop. A few rays of sun made it twinkle and glisten. I wanted to run up to that person’s door and show them, but something held me in place. I couldn’t move. There was a distinct feeling this heart on the roof was meant only for me, at this moment, at this time of desperate need and deep sorrow.
The tears stopped, my shoulders straightened. As I stood in the frigid weather, tranquility and love replaced the nerves that seconds ago twitched. This calm consumed me, my whole body, as if being wrapped in a fresh hot out of the dryer extra soft blanket.

About the Book
Are there such things as spiritual experiences, angels, or divine intervention? Does synchronicity or coincidence play important roles in our life’s destiny? Many people choose to brush off odd occurrences as coincidence. I’ve been guilty of this until about a decade ago. Bit by bit, my thoughts have shifted and some unusual extraordinary things have happened. The signs presented to me in several different ways have been clearly received and have evoked the strongest emotions and sensations of my lifetime. They have brought about instant clarity and a confidence where there wasn’t any before. I’ve made irreversible decisions based on these messages. They have guided me to particular places at perfect times and have given me hope when I thought there was none. Most of all, wherever these signs came from, they’ve given me purpose and stamina to move forward in a positive way. They have shown me who I am and why I’m here in this world.
About the Author
Patti Rae Fletcher was born and raised in the Detroit Metro Area. She loves the city with all of the wonderful diverse entertainment it has to offer. When life is chaotic and it’s time for a break, Patti enjoys being by the water, fishing, camping, hiking, gardening, writing poetry, reading and relaxing to the sound of a crackling fire.
She credits her fifteen years of being employed in a school library as the key that turned her love of reading and literature into the passion she now has for writing.
Since 2004 she has studied writing technique through college courses and conferences. Before her book, This Sign Was Mine, she published articles and photographs in over two dozen magazines. She has done work for Tangerine Press—part of Scholastic—and Reading Town U.S.A.
