33 (I Just Want to be Me)
Speaking my heart, Being true to myself, Living to be me. Not the one from a magazine, Or the one you want me to be.
Am I the way I am, Because this I was told to be? Am I living someone else’s dream, Or my own mesmerizing fantasy?
Do I do what I want to do, That which my heart tells me to be? Or do I do illusions, Supporting someone else’s Need for things to be?
Can I be me And do my own do, Oh, Thee? Is there a price to pay For abandonment Of obedience To controlled reality?
The price is high, Lots at stake. Trust me, I know, oh, Thee. But I want to be me, Regardless of monetary.
And, you know what, oh, Thee? When I am me In totality, Among all other things to be, I just reach, I just grasp, And here it is, oh, Thee: That which I need Shining among all other things to be.
It’s so simple And plain true— I just want to be me, Living my heart As it beats To its own drum melody.
I sit in silence Listen to this beat, oh, Thee. All it tells me: Go write and create, And be one with me.
Drumming getting louder and louder, Until the moment, oh, Thee When it will simply engulf, And then I will be me. Do my own do, One with the beat, Keeping me alive in physicality.

About the Book
Songs of Eternity is a collection of thirty-seven poems reflective of the author’s inner dialogue between the relative, mundane aspect of consciousness and the Higher Self—eternal, inherent inner wisdom. Written in a playful style, these poems are rich in deep, spiritual meaning and profound understanding of the connection between the two, providing the opportunity for the reader to relate in this manner to different topics covered in the poems outside the scope of limiting linear thinking. The poems are melodious and therefore called songs, singing praise to life in every form and gratitude for rewarding empowerment arising from the merging of the relative self with higher consciousness. Intended for all of humanity, these poems will touch every reader’s heart, for they speak the language of the heart, unique and understandable by all.
About the Author
Dragana Orlovic, MD, is a physician working full time in her private practice in Florida. Songs of Eternity is her first book and was written in a very short period of time. It was inspired by Anita Moorjani’s book, Dying to be Me, the magic of which awoke an inner writer that no longer wanted to be ignored.
