This book is about my personal experience with bullying at work and how I found my healing without depending on medications, drugs, alcohol or long term therapy. I was bullied at work, three times, at three different jobs and at three different organisations, and lived to tell my story.
This book is about my experience and my perspective on bullying with intent to inform, inspire and empower others to find their power and own it. We are not victims of our circumstances and bullying does not have to be a negative experience.
I have also included stories from several people about their experience with bullying at work and how it changed their lives. I thank them for their courageous contribution to this book. In my belief, all experience has a purpose and that includes bullying. We all have different reasons for attracting bullying into our lives. This depends on our spiritual evolution and what we desire to experience but resolution can be achieved only through love and compassion for all involved.
I dedicate this book to all who have experienced bullying at work, who lost their jobs because of bullying, those who battle with stress and depression trying to find answers and to those who bully others in search of peace in their hearts. This book is for you and your family and friends who also endure stress trying to support you.
Society of bullies Bullying in general is a huge social problem and it can happen to anyone, anywhere. At home, work, school, sport clubs, fitness centres, shops or anywhere people gather. We have become a society of bullies, using controlling and aggressive methods in search of happiness. People who bully others are separated from love, from their true self. They allow their ego to take control. They act through fear.
They manipulate their environment, people and situations, in order to gain a sense of power and inner peace. Their victims respond with fear and aggression perpetuating this fearful experience. Bullying in workplaces is very common and it seems to be on the increase. Maybe because of the social and economic changes we are going through which can cause uncertainty about the future. We are more willing to bring everything out into the open these days. We are more willing to talk about our emotional pain.
We are more willing to explore all aspects of ourselves to make necessary changes and live our truth. During the process of self-discovery, seeking our truth and purpose in life, we attract people and situations which show us what changes we need to make in our lives, which beliefs and fears hold us back from living our truth and what is necessary for us to move forward to follow our dreams.
For example, a strict supervisor could represent a controlling parent and the lesson here may be to learn to speak up. Or a manager who lashes out at competent workers may be harbouring inner fears of being less competent. Being bullied at work is extremely stressful and it can be damaging to our health, relationships, finances and future goals. Health professionals are concerned that bullying may be a possible cause of long term mental health conditions, unemployment and social exclusion.
Empowerment But surviving workplace bullying is possible and without depending on prescribed medications, illicit drugs, alcohol or
long term therapy.
I survived being bullied out of a job three times. And instead of taking medications and relying on something external to save me I chose to seek internal guidance. I chose to meditate and pray to find answers, to find my truth. I connected with my heart and with the universe, God consciousness, the source of all life. I found answers and I found peace to live my own truth without buying into fear projected by others.
Just like me you can survive bullying at work and live to tell your story by choosing to empower yourself with loving thoughts and actions. By choosing not to be a victim and by staying in love and forgiveness for self and the bully. Meditate and stay connected through love. We are all part of one consciousness and what we think, say or do affects everyone. So when a bully hurts someone he/she also hurts him/herself. Destiny calls I guess it was only a matter of time before I put pen to paper, write about it, as dealing with bullies has been a major theme throughout my life. It all started in primary school when I took bullying into my own hands. I didn’t like injustice and watching other kids being picked on and bullied was my call for action. I used to sneak up on the bullies and bash them up. I felt the need to protect the victims but this got me into trouble several times. My teacher didn’t know that I was on a mission to stop bullying. She was puzzled as my behaviour was totally out of character. My mum was called in to school. I had to spill the beans. And my mission was exposed. That was my way of dealing with bullies back then. Off course I know better today and I am taking action in a different way.
Writing and talking about it to help others deal with bullying in appropriate ways and hoping to see an end to this undesirable behaviour. As more people raise their consciousness they will share love instead of fear. The old paradigm of fearful, controlling thought concepts is almost behind us. We are entering the new paradigm of love and compassion just like God, the source of all life, intended it.
You too can learn to empower yourself and connect with that special place in your heart. I hope you enjoy reading this book, find your own connection with the universal loving energy, release any fear from your life and live an authentic life. Let’s choose to always share love!
